1. Register or Login to Artsy.net
To bid, you must be logged in to a registered account with Artsy.net
If you don't already have an account, sign up here.
You will also be required to accept our Auction Terms & Conditions, the full details of which are available here.
2. Create your crypto wallet
A crypto wallet is required to bid in NFT auctions on Artsy. There are many different wallet providers, with some offering higher security than others.
Your wallet must be compatible with ETH, the only cryptocurrency we use for NFT-related transactions on Artsy. Popular providers included MetaMask, Coinbase and Kraken.
Note: When you set up a crypto wallet you’ll be given a Secret Recovery Phrase, memorize or store this phrase somewhere secure. If you lose this phrase or forget what order the words are in, you will lose access to your wallet and it will be unrecoverable.
For more information about crypto wallets, please see this guide.
3. Add ETH to your wallet
Once your wallet is set up, you can add ETH from a cryptocurrency seller or exchange such as Coinbase, Gemini, or Kraken.
Tip from an Artsy Specialist: You may be subject to “Know Your Customer” checks, and transfer of funds can take 3–5 business days. We highly recommend setting up your wallet and purchasing your ETH at least 7 days in advance of the auction to give you the best chance of success.
For more information about how to purchase ETH, read this guide.
4. Connect your wallet to your account
Once you’ve bought your ETH, you can now connect a crypto wallet to your Artsy account.
If you haven't done so already, the “Bid” button on the lot page will be replaced with “Connect Wallet”. Click the button and follow the prompts. For more information, please see our step-by-step guide.
